this book presents a good story but also makes my gender politics radar perk up. so there is this guy who is kind of a wimp, he fanagles three gorgeous women to be his combat team, so it is as if he was the one doing all these things, but the girls are the one who will face the consequences if he leads them in the wrong direct. it’s a harem story without the sex. now, that’s something I can appreciate, because the sex is generally what turns me off of harem stories… but without the sex it’s still a male power fantasy. I’m going to read the next one to see if it becomes something better, because I believe it can, but I’m not holding my breath .

if it were a male power fantasy that didn’t rely on the man taking advantage of the women or if the women seemed like real full fledged characters instead of tools for overcoming the man’s worst proclivities, I could like it .. but it’s just the normal kind of power fantasy…
