I’m not sure I’m satisfied with the Biblical narrative at the start of each chapter that seems to be interpreted by the story that unfolds thereafter within the chapter. As if the meaning of the Bible passage is revealed correctly through the story. This is one writers attempt to do just that, but man is not without fallacy so please keep that in mind when listening.
Interpretation of Biblical passages in a way that relates to our modern times is an interesting way of teaching people about God’s intentions through a story they can relate to.
This entire story is about end of modern society as we know it. But this is not a new concept. It has happened, although historically differently, and repeatedly at told in historical Bible stories.
What my take away is this, as you read the stories in the Bible you will see Gods word, intentions, and actions never change. They’re consistent throughout and do remain consistent even into our time. Every time you read the word “now” in the Bible that word is powerful to pull that passage and it’s meaning right out of the past into present. Now means right now. This is how the Bible and its teachings remain relevant in our modern times.
Not everyone will find the actions of the characters in this story to be righteous, and may find them even abhorrent. That’s okay. This story as it unfolds is one writers attempt to teach the meanings behind the Biblical passages referred. It’s an interesting book. If you are Christian and know your Bible then you may just enjoy the Biblical references along with the story.
