The story is interesting, the worldbuilding great. But the main characters are always ALWAYS shooting glances, growling and having eyes twitching. If this was a drinking game, you’d be drunk immediately.
The romance takes awhile, but the conflict is unexplained for the first 2/3 of the book and leaves you feeling like the main character is a jerk who makes no sense as a love interest for anyone. She’s better after the conflict is resolved, but most things are unearned by the character.
Pacing issues. Still, overall fun, and I WILL read the next one once it’s on there. But I’m a sucker for an interesting world. Interesting class mechanic as well.
Minor Marysue-age and Martystu-age for some characters, but not offensive. Popcorn fun.
