Apparently I’m in the minority on this one, but I didn’t love it. It’s hard to enjoy a book when you don’t like one of the main characters for most of the story. I’d give all the stars for Lionel, he was such a fun character! He had a lot of heart and wasn’t afraid to be his true self. But Dog/Doug- I wasn’t a fan. While I understand his dilemma, it doesn’t mean I had to like it. He had his moments, but then he’d go and do something stupid and mean and he’d lose me again. I just had a hard time connecting to him.

Although I do appreciate a grand gesture, it just wasn’t enough for me.

The narration by Joel Leslie was fantastic as usual- he always makes each and every character so unique. Lionel and Dog were complete opposites and you really got that from Joel’s performance. I pretty much hung in there with this one thanks to him.
