As an Alaskan dog musher, life long resident, and woodsman, I despise this man’s choices and story. This man destroyed dogs and then procided to feed them to his remaining six dogs that survived the Ten dog culling. He went into the back woods absolutely unprepared and unknowlaged as a village bafoon with only city folk education. He endangered not only his girlfriends life as well as his own but dozens of dogs. I will admit I’m only 6 hours into the book but the mistreatment of dogs as well as self wellbeing, this man should have died his first year in Alaska. and he would be lucky to have the end of a quick bullet to the head as he sent many dogs out this way. He shot his own dogs and fed them to the remaining dogs. Anyone with common sense would not allow dogs to breed with the uncertainty of being able to provide for them.
Don’t let the summary fool you, as this man is no Dick Prenockie. He was a fool.
But I will say the author wrote this story well and is a great writer.
