All around the U.S. calculated and meticulously planned strikes hit oil refineries, dams, power plants, and nuclear sites. This resulted in massive power outages and a crippled emergency response system. The Government is scrabbling to try and fix everything find who did it and help the citizens.

Insert Jim one of our main characters. He and several of his coworkers are on a business trip miles away from home. All is not lost though. Jim and Gary (another man in his group) are preppers. They have emergency plans in place to help them and their families survive. They meet heavy resistance from others in their group and other survivors. Shortly after the attacks Jim has to kill someone after they lose the first member of their group. At home, Jim’s wife and children start to set up defenses to protect themselves. Almost immediately they begin to get accosted by members of the local trailer park. The story follows along with these people as they struggle to survive in a world they thought they were prepared for.

I loved this book. Although I usually am only into horror stories with zombies or other creatures. This book opened my eyes wide. I am a self proclaimed prepper I have realized that I am not prepared for much. The world turns scary in this book the monsters in the story are our fellow humans as they will do anything to survive even if it means killing others. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a interest in survival, prepping, post apocalyptic or just loves suspenseful books.
