“Flux” by Jeremy Robinson is an interesting time travel account. Although there is not a lot of historical content as, in other such tales, this one primarily involves reconnecting family. Our protagonist, Owen McCoy works in security at a research facility called Synergy. Turns out, Synergy’s founder is highly interested in time travel. Owen discovers this tidbit after being bowled over a wave of energy that transports him back to 1985; right before his father’s death. The story progresses through several more instances of energy waves, carrying Owen, along with others in the general vicinity, further back in time. The people collected and reunited along the way are the focus of the story. The memories, emotions, views of what could have been and fears of what future disruptions may result are thought-provoking. As the story continues, I begin to wonder how and if these people will return to their own time. Then the question of, “Why is Synergy doing this?” returns to the forefront. Why indeed; and is there a way back? I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
