I absolutely enjoyed the first two books in this trilogy, so when I saw the third book was available I was super excited to dive right into it.
I don’t like giving away spoilers so I won’t say too much. This book is packed full of good shit. Its alot like the first two books in terms of how the story and characters progress which I personally really enjoyed, so I was happy to see this trend continue. The stakes get higher and higher and by the end you’re on the edge of your “seat” like only a good book can get you to do. I just could not stop listening, especially since this IS a trilogy and likely the conclusion of the entire series. I was hooked, and I was eagerly awaiting what came at the end…………… which is where i got derailed from the entire series.
Like I said previously I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t go into any real detail for those who want to finish this book and the story with it. However I feel like the entire ending of the book was crammed into the last 10 minutes of the book. It left me extremely unsatisfied and suprisingly angry. I don’t know if maybe I just interpreted it poorly but I felt like Oren was betrayed by Vick in a way. But not??? It’s hard to explain without revealing major spoilers however I felt like alot of loose threads were left hanging and that Oren got thrown by the wayside after everything he gave and sacrificed.
IF THIS IS NOT THE FINAL INSTALLMENT IN THE SERIES , then I am 100% willing to continue listening to see where it goes and hopefully get more of an ending. However if this truly is the last book and that was the end. Then I kind of regret having started the series to begin with.
Just to clear things up. I really, really enjoyed the first two books and really enjoyed the third book all the way up until the end. The voiceactors as always did a phenomonal job especially in this book. The new sound effects and music that were this book really amplified the immersiveness for me and made those moments really cool and only served to draw me in further. This book did alot of things right. Hopefully this review helps.
