Rating this book seems strangely difficult. I found the plot to be a little bland, people are dying and the MC is trying to figure out why. However, the world was very unique and interesting, lots of strange creatures and magic (both magic items and spells). If you like action this book has plenty of it. It seemed like he was battling bizarre creatures at every turn; unfortunately, the narrator spoiled the action with his monotone narration of all the action. IMO it felt like the author intended this book to be an action novel and less of a mystery, but the narrator ruined that for me.
I will try one more book in this series because I found the world interesting as well as the magical elements. I only hope the narrator gets better or I get more used to his bland delivery.
