I went into this knowing it was a taboo listen–take that seriously–I was pretty uncomfortable with some of it but it just pulled me in from the beginning. I really enjoyed the overall story, even though the characters had me wanting to tear my hair out more than once. Because this is part one of a series, it’s hard to find the redemption of the characters that normally happens in a stand-alone, so my feelings of anger pretty much went all the way to the end of the book. I didn’t get that happy fulfilled feeling that happens at the end of good book where everything is resolved. But here’s the thing– I could not stop listening! I didn’t want to put it down and I think that’s the mark of a great story. When you have such strong, not-good feelings about a character and still have to know what happens next, the author has done their job. And I feel that Lucia Franco did that and did it well. I’m very much looking forward to the next book because I have to know how this plays out.

Sarah Puckett absolutely brought this story to life! I loved her narration and can’t name a thing I would change.
