The first few chapters of this book are hard to get through, but it gets better and is worth it by the end.

Having said that and avoiding spoilers. The organization of this book is alternating present day and flashback. The flashbacks are going to be annoying because they don’t have anything to do with the main character. But that is okay because they also break you out of the MCs storyline just long enough for you to stop being irritated with him.

That all becomes smooth and worthwhile once you get about half way through the book. Basically it’s all the stuff where he is in the real world that causes dissonance with me. Though I’m old and maybe “Younguns” will enjoy it more.

Now, for the good parts:

The game world, though still limited for the time being, has a lot of potential and that is a lot of fun.

The MC really accepts that he can have fun with evil without being a bad guy and really runs with it. If you like dark horse characters you will love the stuff that happens here.

This is not a story about a well-balanced character slowly making his clever way through difficult trials. This guy basically gets a god on his side and through embracing the bite-me of it all becomes OP as all get out. If you like that sort of thing though this does it really well and is explained in a logical fashion.

Lastly, You have to love a story in which the Necromancer is the builder of society and if you have any suppress anger about being an outcast in high school this story is truly cathartic.
