I thoroughly enjoyed this irreverent action adventure! Lots of the humor comes from the smirking digs at our current state of governmental ridiculousness and just how believable the story’s version of Space Force could prove to potentially match its real life counterpart. The characters were fun to get to know and the narrators really added to that. Jeffrey Kafer is one of my absolute favorites, particularly when it comes to portraying smart-mouthed, sarcastic n’er-do-wells. You can just see the cocked eyebrow as he delivers the zingers with the perfect timing and inflection. Definitely giggle snort-worthy! The humor doesn’t detract from the engaging action, either, and the foe, while sublimely hilarious in their own right, were formidable and interesting to boot. Sure, there are some classic sci-fi military, buddy movie, and video gaming tropes being exploited in this book, but you can tell it’s done with full acknowledgement and tongue stuck firmly in cheek. Think Marko Kloos action meets Guardians of the Galaxy irreverent humor meets Fortnight or World of Warcraft then dip it all in a giant vat of teenage bodily function humor and you get close. If more Space Force stories are forthcoming, I will be sure to pick them up.

I received this title for free in exchange for leaving an honest review. Honestly, I really liked this book and would recommend it for anyone who likes a bit of humor with their space warfare…or is that a little space warfare with their humor?
