I really wanted to like this and the universe and magic/tech system created is very entertaining. The issue is it often read to me like a self gratifying exploits of essentially a space harem. The captain bounces between his revolving door of humanoid female crew members while is few male crew mates are either show not interest in the opposite sex, are non-human, or are already spoken for. I don’t know. The females just seem like exaggerations of different male ideals. I’m sure many will consider this either an exaggeration or me looking for issue but some of these books were hard to listen to without literally making cringe face.
But seriously fun tech/fantasy mashup. Tricky trade off. Reader beware.
