tldr: don’t buy this audiobook.

The story in this trilogy has potential, but between poor writing and massive repetition of small unnecessary details, falls sorry of what it could be. that being said, I’d still say this is a trilogy that might be fun in spite of all that if it’s read.

Some of the plot failures include a protagonists who lives in exile for two years but acts like a homeschooled 14 year old, naive and helpless after two years of self imposed exile. He’s whiny, weak, and pathetic. He doesn’t match his history at all.

The romance in the book is awful. Described awkwardly and wasn’t even necessary. Leave the awkward tongues out next time Aaron.

The protagonist and his inner circle are immortal, and overcome impossible situations not by improving, but by Divine intervention and the sudden nerfing of the bad guy. In this story, they never could have won based on the character descriptions. Aaron literally just made it so.

As an audiobook this trilogy is a disaster. David Stifel is a terrible reader. Monotone, no attempt at creating individual character voices or accents. The women in the series have voices for than the men in many places. he destroys the little merit this trilogy has and makes it a burden to listen to.
