Mostly a sol, if uninspired telling of a story told many times before.
Not exactly the insight into the minds of coders that i expected.
The point that raises this book out of the pack on a point of difference is the powerful handling of the gender issues. That makes it a ‘should read’ rather than ‘just another brief history’.
So, get it, read it, but keep your expectations in check. It’s good to very good, not super great.
