So for the past year I’ve scrolled by this series I kept looking at it because c’mon 84 hours for the price of one book? it could suck and still be worth the money. I kept reading the description and got turned off everytime, I mean space wizards? and smugglers in space sounds like the same lame storyline you’ve heard a million times before. but after running low on space sci fi books on audible I decided to finally do and I have to really take my hat off to both the writer and narrator, first off I’ve spent hundreds maybe even thousands of hours listening to audiobooks and I’ve never EVER EVER heard a narrator like this one, he’s amazing, best narrator I’ve ever heard hands down bar none, this series is more like listening to a movie than a book with the emotions and character that this guy puts into the people in the books, you really start to feel like you know these characters and how they will react and what they will say. As far as the writing goes, this series has one of the most unique takes on magic I’ve ever heard and it’s my new fav haha he blended science and magic together in a way I never would have thought of and it’s perfect! it’s kinda funny that one of my biggest turn offs to buying the book has become my favorite part and as far as the “cliche” outlaws go, they are really very far from cliche, this isn’t a group of super cool expert killer outlaws you’d be expecting, they are more like real people that I would have guessed and by the end of the series you are fondly reminiscing on adventures you shared with them from the beginning and characters and places come back from the first stories at the end and it all just works together so beautifully. it’s been hard to try not to use any spoilers to make my point here but let me just say if you’ve passed by this book a few times like I did and just aren’t too sure how much your into it. Buy it and try it it’s prob the best deal on audible and trust me after the first few books you’ll understand why this is such a great series. Great great great job on this!! I’m ready for another 80+ hours right now!
