I chose this title unsure if it would live up to the hype. I mean, drawing comparisons to Firefly? Seemed like a gimmick. Honestly, the comparison does a disservice to this fantastic series. Not because its better than Firefly. Though I can see how some might say that. It’s certainly a fuller, more well rounded story in a way that Firefly never had the chance to reach toward.
No. I say it’s a disservice because this story deserves to stand on its own merits and needs no comparison. While they share a common concept, the style and flare is altogether different. With seamless world building, and an evolving cast of interesting and unique characters, this series accomplished what few do; come across as a novel, a series, a movie, and an alternate reality that you’d just love to romp around within.
Makes me want to find myself a small interstellar vessel and gather a crew of ne’er do wells to see what shenanigans I can get into.
