Alice Winters is a new author for me and admittedly, I selected this audio book largely because Joel Leslie was narrating. This is a great story of two people thrust together out of need. For Lane that need was someone to provide assistance following a brutal tragedy and for Felix it was the need to belong. These characters are expertly developed and the story line offers a multitude of actions and emotions. The “adventures” these two get into and overcome in an effort to gather evidence allows us to witness the banter between Lane and Felix and their personalities shine through with Joel’s amazing story telling ability!
Joel is hands down my favorite narrator! I am an avid reader (750+ books a year) who uses audible books only to fill the time when traveling and as a speed reader, I typically purchase the kindle version as well so I can finish the book on my own however, I couldn’t do that with this book. In the second that I considered it I realized that I would not enjoy the story unless Joel continued to weave it for me. As always, he easily maneuvers between characters with distinct voices and expertly captures the personalities which keeps you immersed in the story. I just purchased the next audible book in this series so I can continue to be entertained by Joel Leslie.
