One would think being a necromancer and wizard would be exciting, profitable and one could have the world at his feet, but Lazarus Kerrigan is on the wrong side of Karma! He finds himself facing Darrius, a gang leader he ‘wronged’, his girlfriend took a powder, his funds are running low, oh, and there’s a dead body in his doorway. The cops are looking for him and so is The Baron, aka the Big D!

Lots of magic, mystery and edge of your seat thriller as Lazarus tries to discover who is killing women and leaving them in places the cops keep connecting them to him!

E.A. Copen has written an exciting, fun yet mystery thriller involving magic and the paranormal. The story-line is clear, well written and executed. The book definitely keeps one’s attention! The characters are well-developed and defined; interesting and vividly described. I liked how Lazarus was a down-to-earth wizard with scruples and a snarky outlook and mouth to match!

The narrator, Travis Baldree gave a strong performance. His voice was strong and clear, he portrayed each character well. It is my thought that Baldree provided yet another connection to the book and characters through his well-done performance.

I cannot wait for the next installment to see what kind of trouble Lazarus can get himself into with his new-found powers!

I encountered no issues around the production or quality of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp. I enjoy the audiobooks that allow the narrator to become the book and characters without dramatic sound effects or background music that hinders the narrator and story; this is a well-done performance!
