This book is good in many ways and bad in many ways. I have read a few of William’s books and I must say that it’s very noticeable this is one of his older works. As there is many parts of the book that feels like he hasn’t put very much time on thinking through or done much background checking, which is a very common thing amongst the first books of writers.
It is also very, Very confusing in the beginning, it took me many chapters before I were able to patch together what was going on.
The audio quality is unfortunately really bad. The sound jumps between too loud and too quiet all the time, especially when jumping between Runners (the main protagonist) inner thoughts and the rest.
Jeff Hays is a phenomenal voice actor though and I’m really sad that his performance was destroyed by faults in the audio.
So after all this critique I have given this book I cannot recommend it too anyone new to Williams books, as it doesn’t do him justice in how skilled of a writer he has become.
Too people who has read some of his newer books I would recommend reading this one aswell, mostly because I think it is good to read all works of a writer that you enjoy, cause that gives you somewhat of an insight in the writers brain and you will have an easier time enjoying his more recent books and the books to come.
