First off, this is NOT the same characters as in the first 3 books.
It takes place in the same game world, but this time we follow a player named Emma and her adventures
I like how as we’ve changed MC and shifted to a player from an NPC, a lot of the “tone” of the book have changed as well, as if Dawn consciously shifted her some of her writing style to reflect that the new MC has a different view on everything.
The story is well written, though it feels like the pacing is a Sinus Wave, with parts very rushed and/or action packed followed by very slow parts, often with character development…
it works, but it is a little jarring at times.
However despite this, I wholeheartedly enjoyed this story and found the journey very fulfilling
The narration was fine, though a little rough at certain points such as when doing “booming voice” it was more… Jarring… Also, several voices were a little too alike for my liking.
Still, these are minor gripes and didn’t distract from the story, at most it made me go back 30 seconds once or twice to make sure who was saying what to whom.
