I loved book one of this and was excited to see where the author would take it, but I have to admit that I was disappointed with this!

This one starts slow, the gets good, then fizzles out at the end! There were a lot of things I found to be unbelievable and in my opinion, quite silly! It’s hard to talk about some of the things because they are major spoilers, but I’ll do my best with the non spoilery parts.

Anna and Sam are coming to terms with her mothers death, and the end of life as they knew it, but their life isn’t too bad. Her grandfather seems to have everything and she’s not wanting for anything. They have a fence around his place, and bars on the windows. In fact, the whole town where they live seems to be doing good. There is a bit of unrest when the town is told to hand over all their weapons, but that fizzled out way too quickly.

Annas’ grandfather is a piece of work!! What he tries to do to Sam was…. I don’t know, I was shaking my head because I didn’t think the character he asked would have done it and Sam wouldn’t have been so naive when the shot came near him. I think he would have put two and two together! But again, that little story line fizzled out and never got a resolution either.

Possible spoilers!!!! Another part of the plot that annoyed me and seemed unbelievable was when Sam was sent on a certain task. A certain character comes to their town and tells them he is responsible for everything! He is the hacker, and he knows that the group responsible for making him commit the act is about to undertake something even worse….. Why would he turn up in a small town and blab his sins!! Why would they not inform the authorities and get qualified men to save the world!! Instead Sam and a few others go.

To me, the whole plot felt rushed. The ending definitely felt the most rushed and I did not like it at all!!!! I wanted to give up a few times but I also wanted to see what happened because I did like the characters!!

In all, I really think this should have been one decent sized book, instead of two. I feel like the story could have been great, but instead it just felt rushed and suffered because of it. 2.5 stars!!

Kevin Pierce is the voice of Post Apocalyptic books. He has read so many of them!! He is clear and easy to follow and has plenty of tones and voices for the characters.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
