I didn’t enjoy Orens character as much as the first book. That may be due to personal reasons maybe? The author also steps into some pet peeves of mine. I don’t think its fair to judge too harshly based on those things. I think Shemer Kuznits knows who he is and who hes writing this story for. I will say the whole thing with Oren betraying the dwarf who basically saved his life was never really scrutinized or made up for. Not Oren, Vic, or even the twins question the morality of that move. And in that same scene Malkeer starts to suspect Oren of being an NPC but it doesn’t lead to anything? Never the less. it was enjoyable when I just accepted the book for what it is. Will be picking up the next one as well.
