I ended up really enjoying this book. Overall it really is an entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story, although I had a really hard time with it in the beginning. I started and stopped it several times. It just wasn’t holding my attention. I’m not sure what the problem was. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for this type of story that day. The third time was the charm. I started it and was pulled into the story immediately and it held my complete attention from start to finish.

Despite my initial problems it really is a good story with a great storyline, plenty of action, suspense, mystery, a bit of humor and a great cast of well developed characters.

Jake isn’t your typical werewolf character. He hates his other side. He is struggling with the beast within himself. He is trying to control it and losing the battle. He doesn’t want any black marks against his name or soul. Trying to make amends for all things he does while under control of the beast he does/or tries to do good deeds or help others whenever he can. One such occasion blows his cover and the race is one to save himself as well as those around him.

Hopefully this will be a series. Or at least a second book to give Jake a HEA of some sort. I’m curious to see where Jake’s story goes from here and if it will include Gwen.

Travis Baldree did a really good job with the narration. He has a nice voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Good character voices. Even his female voices are good. His voice for the beast was perfect. He was able to bring the characters and story to life through his narration. Very enjoyable
