A good book to me has well written characters.
Well written characters keep me engaged and make me care about their story. Exceptionally written characters are the ones I think about days or even years later. Characters that I mourn with and wonder how they’re doing now, or celebrate with and think of when my mind wanders. This book has exceptionally written characters. Days after I’ve finished it I find myself thinking of John and Melly and Ethan.
The plot is also important to me, and without giving anything away I’ll say the plot of this book was well done also. Fast paced, engaging and well written. Told from the “now” and a series of flashbacks, it flowed well and was easy to follow.
I absolutely loved this book and am eagerly awaiting the second one.
