It’s a series of stories stitched together in a haphazard way. There is no cool tech, thought-provoking ideas, or even a story arch across the books. It’s basically a space ship crewed with people and aliens going about their daily lives and their misadventures. Sometimes its funny, less times interesting, but more often its just plain boring. I gave this title an honest chance, but after listening to 35 hours, I gave up.
The crew deus ex machina’s their way out of serious trouble with their wizard in almost every story. The stories are contrived, and not even fun to listen to. The only way that its LIKE Firefly (like so many others have posted) is that they are mixed bag of characters in a space ship, that’s where the similarities ends. I would take this a step further and compare it to Star Trek but they do not meet undiscovered aliens, planets, or anomalies in space.
As a Sci-Fi lover, I would only recommend this title if you’re desperate for something to listen too. Otherwise, stay away.
