First of all….how to opine about Joel Leslie? He is an amazing narrator and the banter back and forth that is essential in this series is right up his alley. The first book is very action packed and the plot is convoluted due to deep undercover and police corruption issues. The second book is much more domesticated, same page, and too curious for their own good sort of tale. I loved the sarcasm, continued expansion of family members closeness and even possible future spawn (gasp!) the story meanders wonderfully and then gets Super Dramatic for the last few hours. Be prepared to want to yell at the characters as they awkwardly go out to investigate alone the equivalent of “what’s that noise?” in a horror movie and confront obvious villains.
