I’ve listened to a lot of litRPG books. It’s becoming my favorite genre. So, when I see a well reviewed litRPG that is almost 25 hours long, I was excited.

The story starts off well, creating a motivation for the main character and a special circumstance in which he is different than other players and hence why a story would be written about him. That’s were it diverged into Sim City. For 23 or the 25 hours, it was just him building up his town; how much food do I have, what should I build next, what gives me the most bang for my buck, what resources do I need, where should I spend my time… for 90% of the book! That’s not litRPG, that’s working a job or managing a home IRL.

I listen to litRPG to escape into a world of magic and possibilities, not to have to relive my work day.

The narrator did an excellent job and probably the only reason I could make it through, but if you are looking for epic adventures, be prepared for 23 hours of someone dictating themselves playing Sim City.
