Though the story got into the action pretty quickly, there were so many characters introduced that it was a difficult to get into any of their story lines early on. As the individual characters began experiencing their conflicts things became clearer and relatable.
The difficulties endured in this story are pretty realistic. The wildfires and the resulting complications are mostly the kinds of things that have been reported before, though some are obviously somewhat sensationalized. Still, the premise that the core characters will endure various tragedies and will have different reactions during each scenario is something I am looking forward to reading/hearing more about.
Kevin Pierce is a great storyteller. He builds the images and moods professionally. The character voices are a bit limited, but intoned well.
